To Maddie on Her Birthday

Dear Maddie,

I wanted to write you a note for your birthday. I can't tell you enough how much I love you; how much you inspire me; how much our friendship and sisterhood means to me.

You are one of the most amazing people I know. I wish every day that you never got cancer, but I am so glad we got to spend so much time together this year. For that reason I can remember it fondly and not fall apart.

I know Italy will be amazing. I know you will make such special memories, even if something is hard or annoying or not how you expected.

I wear my Strength key every day, but the reason I am really strong is because of you and how you showed me, not just through your cancer diagnosis, but through your life to be yourself and to put love first; to never give up; to never stop searching for good.

I love you always and always sister! You make everything better!

Love,
Devie

  1. What a beautiful letter. It must be very lovely to have a sister, you make me wish I had one. Maddie sounds very inspirational, I hope she has a wonderful time in Italy. Italy! I shall go there one day too and look at the Amalfi coast and walk across the Rialto Bridge in Venice. Aah, I'm dreaming now... Have a great weekend Devon. CJ xx

  3. Reading and catching up on all your posts, I can't believe your little girl is 1! 1 how does it go so fast, I feel so bizarrely emotional for the moms and babies born so close to my little guy because I get exactly how it feels and know the awesome daily developments and quirky funny things you get daily with a 1 year old:) This year was so tough on you guys and I pray for good things in the year ahead!! xx We moved this year and I finally live by the sea- but no surfing for me baby no.2 on the way and not confident enough...

Oh and I loved your choice in baby toys, I find it so hard to find toys my son likes he mostly just wants to sweep the floors or try steal the tv remotes.. but I'm working on cornering him with only his toys haha.

    xx
