$100 Giftcard Giveaway to Kahili Creations + Thoughts on Jewelry

I realized the other day how much I love jewelry. It's not that I thought I didn't before, but I've never really lingered in the windows of Tiffany's or longed to be decorated in diamonds. Usually I have on what Scott calls my "permanent jewelry". An anklet that I got almost ten years ago on a family trip, my wedding ring and the two rings I got on our honeymoon that I consider my wedding bands. Usually a watch too. I love wearing this jewelry along with a necklace or bracelet that makes me think of things I love (people, places, nature...). I think jewelry is probably one of my favorite things to shop for or receive.

I've had a few jewelry shops sponsor the site so far and I've had them here because I really love their jewelry and what it represents; the person and the story they'd like to tell.

Today Kahili Creations is offering a $100 shopping spree to one winner! Their jewelry is handcrafted on the Big Island of Hawai'i by Marcia, a ukulele player that loves 80s music and has a lot of good stories to tell herself. Check out her shop and enter below to win store credit (U.S. Residents only). Learn more about Kahili Creations here

  1. These are SO lovely - everything on the site is amazing.

I'm like you - I'm a jewelry lover but it doesn't have to be Tiffany's to float my boat. I also wear "everyday" items. I've been sporting the same 4 tiny hoop earrings in my ears since the night before I met my husband, in person (10+ years - I take them out to clean them regularly but I wear them at all times). I have been sporting the same toe ring for about 15 years. My wedding ring and band (2 years strong), and a moon face ring that I've had for 15+ years - almost everyday. Most of these items I sleep in. I switch out my necklace from time to time and also wear different earrings in my first holes in my ear (one ear has 4 holes and the other has two). I love getting jewelry - I feel like it's a gift that lasts and i love having an item given to me by someone important to me to always remind me of them. I cherish them.

    1. Your "permanent" sounds cool and special. Crazy to think you could have been wearing something since you met your husband. I guess I almost have too (the anklet :)! Thanks for sharing this Kelly. It was fun to read about the jewelry you have that has become a part of your life.

  2. PS I'm so happy to see friendship bracelets are cool again - how did so many kids of years past live without them - snap bracelets and others are not as cool as handmade friendship bracelets.

  3. I love jewellery as well, but handcrafted silver rather than gold and diamonds. My favourite designer is Sophie Harley, her work is beautiful. I'd much rather have jewellery than clothes. It's something that lasts.

  4. Beautiful jewelry! I love those seafoam drop earrings. Makes me want to buy a plane ticket to Hawaii right now:) There's a necklace my sister gave me last Christmas that I have been wearing a lot recently. It's just an old typewriter key of the letter "K" set in silver. I love it, and it has become my new good luck charm. Whenever I know it's going to be a trying day, I wear it to work. I get kind of superstitious with things like that:)

  5. Beautiful jewelry. I do not wear much jewelry but love a good beautiful necklace especially if it is silver or has dainty beads. I'm very low key which drives my Hispanic mom CRAZY! lol
