Thankful Things

This week I'm thankful for...
Small things, unlikely treasures, keepsakes, souvenirs.
The sun seems to show-off most when it's setting in the fall. It's nice to have a moment to pause and watch it go off.
Time to play on new surfaces
(in my activewear from Roxy)
This country is special.
Before Scott and I left for a surf shop party the other night, I was putting away a necklace in the jewelry box he gave me when he proposed. When he asked what I kept in there, I showed him how I saved all the little metal keys that came as the tags on some of our wedding gifts. He admired one in the fading daylight and said "It says 'Pottery Barn' on it" and we laughed. I love sentimental things, even if they are retail gimmicks.
I'm thankful for my friends and their quirks. Here, Basia demonstrates both her beautiful long hair and her total inattention to tangles.
I thought the waves were going to be bad yesterday, but they weren't.
Our kitchen is missing. We're having 20 people over for "Friendgiving" in t-minus eight days. I'm trying to use this experience as an opportunity to grow into a more mellow and go-with-the-flow kind of person. Mostly, I just keep telling myself "It will all get done. It will all get done" and then leaving the house.
It's nice to put your feet up after a day that has been both long and short.
I don't really like graffiti, but the positive, eventually erasable kind isn't so bad.

What are you thankful for this week?

p.s. if you buy an ad on my blog from now until next Friday I will donate 100% of the proceeds to the American Red Cross disaster relief in the Philippines. Same with Oh Dear Drea. Contact me here!

    1. rain in the morning is a nice thing to be thankful for. I think it's about to rain here too and you've reminded me to be thankful for that :)

  3. I love how your jewelry box is like a 3D puzzle! And I'm thankful for sunsets, chocolate, family and friends. And also to be finally living with Charles after so many years of long distance. Going through winter doesn't seem as bad now that I have someone who is literally a human radiator to snuggle with everyday :)

  4. Forgive me if this is a double post, typing up the new iPad mini takes a bit of getting used to apparently!

I love the sun in the fall, so many pinks appear which I don't usually get to see! And I love your climbing place and new clothes!

    1. iPad mini? Fun! Sometimes it's such a pain to comment on those devices. I hope Google will do something about that (Google, are you listening?)

  7. What a lovely post. It looks so warm and sunny with you. Wonderful California. Somewhere I have long wanted to visit. Your little box is gorgeous, and so romantic. Good luck with the kitchen. As you say, it will all get done somehow. I'm looking forward to seeing the finished article! Hope you both have a lovely Sunday Devon.

  11. Love all these things:) Especially how you collect little things. I like to do that, too, and then look back at them to remember special memories:) Can't wait to see your kitchen! It will all get done. I'm terrible about being mellow about that stuff. Somehow it does all work out, but I'm usually super stressed beforehand. I don't think I could ever get sick of that sunset. Just beautiful.
