Date Night Detours

I mentioned Scott and I went to dinner at Daphne's last week. It was good. It always is, but one of the things I haven't really mentioned about our meals out at Daphne's are the detours we tend to take on the way home. One time we decided to follow a local waterway all the way back into this neighborhood where we found it wrapped and weaved its way around the houses that each had their own personal docks. I thought we knew all the waterways around here, turns out we don't! Not at all. Another time we picked up our Christmas tree from a local farmer just before he closed for the season. This time we watched the sunset while the trains worked and the egrets ate dinner. We usually cook at home or eat around our neighborhood and most of the time we like it that way, but I'm also really happy for the nights we eat out at Daphne's. For the healthy food they serve, the fun atmosphere they provide and the little adventures we have on the way home.

Do you ever take the long way home?

  2. I used to enjoy walking around towns and cities before we had children. No doubt I will get back to it one day. Your walks look lovely. And that last photo of you is beautiful. Daphne's sounds like a great place to eat. I used to eat at a wonderful place called Daphne's as well, also with fantastic healthy food. Now I am wondering if it is still there.

    1. "date night" sounds so grown up in a way, doesn't it? Like Something my parent's do. And here we are climbing around in the bushes. I'm glad you've had your share of decent detours too

  4. Now I have that song "take the long way home" running through my head:) Ah, Supertramp said it best. I love taking those little detours where you don't have to rush home and can explore things in your town that you haven't been able to before. That is awesome you guys found a new waterway, and your pictures are beautiful. I love that golden hour as the sun is setting. Yay for date nights and taking the long way home:)

Ah man, you guys live in such a beautiful place (I call Joburg my prison- well in my head, it makes my husband depro if I say it hehe) but our date nights are usually meet ups, the actual date always special but no pretty sunsets to see. Love love, such a cute post:) Date night is my favorite, still get excited for every one:)
